According to PlasticSurgery.org, of the 17.5 million cosmetic procedures performed in 2017, tummy tucks were the fifth most requested. We’ve all looked in the mirror at some point and considered places we’d change. Maybe a lift here, or addressing that bra roll that’s bothered us for so long. Face lifts and body tucks are an incredible option, but are prohibitive for those who can’t tolerate anesthesia or have experienced complications from past major surgical procedures. Whether you’re someone who should avoid major surgery, or someone who would prefer a less-invasive solution, BodyTite and FaceTite might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for, since they provide surgical results, without the scars or downtime.
Approved by the FDA in 2016, BodyTite and FaceTite offer an in-office option for those with a minimal to moderate amount of excess fat and skin around the abdomen, neck, arms or thighs. While it won’t help with stretch marks, it does cause all skin to tighten which improves overall appearance. BodyTite and FaceTite work best for lower face (jowls), neck, upper arms, abdomen, breasts (essentially a minimal breast lift), thighs, bra roll, and buttocks. It’s important to note that this procedure isn’t for those who are currently obese, or have experienced massive weight loss (75 to 200 lbs) as there are other procedures better suited to their needs.
How do BodyTite and FaceTite work?
Before the procedure, the patient is instructed to stay away from aspirin, vitamin E, green teas, blood thinners, and NSAIDs. They will also need someone who can drive them home afterward. On the day of the procedure, the treatment areas are first marked, then photographs are taken. The patient will take an oral sedative, but will remain awake. Once that has set in, the surgical areas are further numbed. It may take a few minutes for the fluid to settle and take full effect.
Each zone takes approximately 15 minutes — for instance, the abdomen may have multiple zones. A radiofrequency probe goes under the skin and heats it up, causing some fat melting. Light liposuction then removes the melted fat for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, reducing the thickness in the area and increasing the tightness of the skin. A smaller probe is used for FaceTite to ensure precision, and less energy is released as to avoid nerve damage.
Once the procedure is complete, the patient is assisted into a foam or compression garment, their vital signs are checked one last time, and they are released to their designated driver. After the procedure, the patient is given instructions for pain meds, compression garments, and how to change bandages. Small incisions in each zone are left open to allow for some drainage. There is no pain during the procedure, and though there will be some tenderness for approximately 48 to 72 hours following, total recovery, including swelling and bruising, is complete within one to two weeks.
Why choose BodyTite and FaceTite?
Because these are in-office procedures, there is less downtime, no scars, and no drains. The results are more dramatic than external radiofrequency results, like Venus body contouring, and are comparable to liposuction. The total cost of treatment, depending on areas treated, is around the same cost as liposuction — between $5,000 – $7,000).
